If a couples request a winter engagement session, I am always slightly worried about the scenery. The grass in New England is certainly dead and vibrant summer colors are faded. Olivia and Luke have lived in the DC area for years. They originally met in college at Syracuse however DC has become a major backdrop for their story as a couple. As a New England photographer feeling done with the gloominess in Connecticut, I immediately suggested we take their photos in their city. This decision provided the perfect opportunity to capture their own story as a couple against the familiar streets of DC.
In a busy city like DC, sunrise is always the best option to avoid the crowds. We started our session at one of the iconic monuments, the Lincoln Memorial. The pastel pink and blue colors of the sky created the softest portrait light.
Of course we had to see more of the city than the Lincoln memorial. We headed over to Georgetown for a bit of a different vibe. Our first stop was Georgetown University. The stunning architecture and sprawling lawn made for wonderful winter DC engagement photos.

I had such a memorable morning exploring the DC. I am so looking forward to their wedding this September at Farmington Polo Club.
